Estonian soprano Maria Valdmaa excels in both historical and contemporary repertoire and has performed as a soloist across Europe and in the USA, singing repertoire from Schütz and Mozart, to Pärt and beyond. Her voice has been described by critics as “natural and exceptionally beautifully coloured”. She has sung under the baton of such well-respected musicians as Laurence Cummings, Daniel Reuss, Tõnu Kaljuste, Roy Goodman and Marc Minkowski. She is a soloist with the Het Nederlands Kamerkoor (Dutch Chamber Choir), as well as a member of the award-winning Ensemble Vox Luminis. In 2014 she won the Michael Oliver Prize and the audience prize (Michael Normington Prize) at the Handel Singing Competition, London.
